A few weeks ago I decided that I couldn’t handle my fireplace wall anymore. There was too much going on for me to enjoy it and something was just off about it. My first thought was to paint every other board the same grey (Gatherings) as my dining room.
I tested it out on half of the wall, but it just made the room feel a bit gloomy. The paint color came off more of a beige tone on the wood. Not being totally sold on the muddy stripes, I used some of my left over Sea Salt color on the other half of the gigantic wall.
Sea Salt gave a better vibe, but I wasn’t sold on the stripes. I decided to paint the entire wall blue. The blue against the other stark white walls still wasn’t cutting it. So there I was, painting the entire room Sea Salt. I was hesitant at first… contemplated whether to paint it white all over again or to start it on fire (just kidding… maybe).
All this work wasn’t for nothing, right? So, I bought new curtains and switched out my clock for the mirror in my office. It’s official, it’s blue! I love the coastal farmhouse look and this really brings that out. It feels more clean, comfortable, and relaxing than bright white.
My only remaining fear is if I will miss the different colors in my décor against the white walls. I figure this is a good challenge for me. I can play with neutrals in my décor, but also seeing what other colors will play well with the blue.
Let me know how you feel about the change! I will probably be getting more décor/switching some out in the future…but I just wanted to get this post up so I could finally reveal to you all what I have been up to!
