We did our entire bathroom in shiplap and a wall in our dining room in shiplap…I am in love with shiplap. I am so in love with it, I did my entire living room in it. This was quite the project for this little girl. I spent about a week getting the shiplap up and painted. I did it, all on my own too. What is the most difficult part about putting up shiplap for me? Using the jigsaw. I would sigh every time it came to a point where I would have to cut a piece. We also have a couple arch ways too, so those weren’t easy. Was it worth it? Heck yes! I am so happy that I did this. It might have used every bit of my energy that week, but the pay off is amazing. I love the character it brings to my house. Fun fact: Our house was originally just the dining room and the room above it. Later on the kitchen, bathroom, living room, and two small porches were added onto it. So this house doesn’t actually have a lot of “natural” character. It was pieced together through different ages. All the character that is here, was added into it. I love that I get to customize it to my own taste though. I am glad we don’t have “precious” wood trim that people would look at me like was crazy for painting. I love my white trim, moldings, and walls. White is my favorite color. I wanted to go with white slip cover sofas in my living room. I have three cats and hopefully some children in the next few years so I don’t think white furniture would be a great idea. I settled on grey sofas. They were a decent price and stylish. I bought them online so yeah they’re not very comfortable, but hey they look cute. That’s all that matters, right? We also had false ceiling tiles in this room. My parents have a 100 year old home and when they took down their tiles they were lucky enough to discover 10 foot ceilings. I took mine down and discovered a whole two inches. I am stuck with my boring eight foot ceilings. I added some bead board panels to add in some character to the ceiling. If I were to do this all over, I would have used REAL bead board. I chose panels because I felt they would be easier to put up. Man was I wrong. They are very heavy and they don’t looks quite as good as real wood. I am satisfied enough with them though that I will keep them up. We got our sofas, chair, clock, lamps, and chandelier in this room from Wayfair. I got the curtains from JC Penny.
