Slow Cooker Roast & Potatoes

Hey friends!

This weekend was a pretty laid back one for Wade and I. We went out for supper with his parents one night, spent Saturday watching Netflix all day, and I cleaned the house a little on Sunday. I did, however, get one thing accomplished…I decided to switch up my usual roast recipe. The verdict? Amazing!!!

Seriously, it was one of the best roasts that I’ve ever had. Before, mine was a little dry and pretty bland. This time I added more seasoning, liquids, and vegetables.

Wade was a bit of a critic and claimed that he’s not a “roast guy“.

I know I know…I’m so nice that I let him sleep in the house after telling me that. 😂 I mean how can you not be a roast person…? 🙄

Anyway, here’s what you really came for. Enjoy!

  • 2-3 pound beef roast (chuck or rump)

  • 1 packet of onion soup mix

  • 1/2 cup of water

  • 1/2 cup of Coca-Cola (Coke)

  • 3/4 of one large can of cream of mushroom soup

  • Seasoning (we used Lawry’s)

  • Salt & pepper

  • Little gold potatoes

  1. Spray slow cooker or place liner inside

  2. Place roast in slow cooker

  3. Sprinkle a small amount of seasoning, salt, and pepper on roast

  4. Mix the packet of onion soup, cream of mushroom, water, and Coca-Cola together in a mixing bowl

  5. Pour mix over top of the roast

  6. Rinse off / clean off the little potatoes (or cut up potatoes) and place them in slow cooker

  7. Sprinkle small amount of seasoning on potatoes

  8. Cook on low for 8 hours (or 4 hours on high setting)

  9. Serve and enjoy!

My recipe rating: 5 out of 5 stars! I loved it!

Simple Slow Cooker BBQ Drumsticks

Hey there friends! I just wanted to share the new meal that I made last week.

This is a great meal for people getting out on their own and trying to get the hang of things. It’s also great for those on a tight budget and those who just don’t have time to cook. Maybe you’re going through a renovation and are stuck without an oven??

All this recipe consists of is two ingredients:

  • 10 Chicken Drumsticks
  • 1 bottle of BBQ sauce (18oz)

  1. Spray slow cooker with nonstick spray
  2. Place drumsticks in slow cooker
  3. Cover
  4. Cook on high for 3 hours
  5. After 3 hours, drain juices from slow cooker
  6. Pour entire bottle of barbecue sauce over drumsticks
  7. Cover again
  8. Cook for another 30 minutes on high or until chicken is done.

Wow. That was easy, right?

I’m not sure if I have mentioned this yet, but we don’t have an oven. Honestly, we haven’t in two years or so.

We live off Crock-pot, skillet, stovetop, Pizzaz, and microwave meals. You’d be surprised what you can make without an oven.

Although we have been getting by, an oven would be very convenient. It also would come in handy for chicken recipes.

I would rank this recipe as a 3 out of 5 stars. I thought it was alright, but Wade wasn’t a huge fan.

I’m not the biggest barbecue sauce lover, so I wasn’t expecting to fall in love.

Wade likes the flavor more than I, but the texture was too “mooshy” for him. It was nice and tender but maybe…too tender (is there such a thing???)

I think it was missing the crispy texture that an oven or skillet provides.

If anyone has a solution to this problem, let me know! There is always more room for knowledge and improvement!
